Making Women's Health Care a priority

Planned Parenthood believes that all Americans should be guaranteed access to quality, affordable health care.

Nationwide, more than 850 Planned Parenthood health centers provide a wide range of reproductive health care to millions of women every year. The vast majority, more than 90 percent, of this health care is preventive — and includes contraception, cancer screenings, testing for sexually transmitted infections, and immunizations. Such reproductive health care is basic health care, and must be covered by any national health insurance plan if we are to meet women's health care needs.

Planned Parenthood Capitol Day: April 22, 2009

President Obama Overturned the Global Gag Rule!

President Barack Obama overturned the global gag rule, ending eight long years of a destructive policy that has hindered access to basic health care for women. Health care providers will no longer be forced to choose between giving comprehensive family planning services to women or receiving of federal funding. Our new president has taken an important first step in ushering in a new day for women’s health. We thank President Obama for bringing true change to the White House and hope to women across the globe.
